The Data Commons: How user power can protect privacy and promote data protection

As part of the National Association of Data Protection Officers, I presented my research on the data commons to explore how data protection has been considered within data governance and data stewardhip to support individuals as data subjects when it comes to protecting their personal data.

Janis Wong is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at The Alan Turing Institute researching on data protection, ethics, and governance as part of the Ethics Theme of the Public Policy programme. She was awarded her interdisciplinary PhD in Computer Science at the Centre for Research into Information, Surveillance and Privacy (CRISP), University of St Andrews.
